Health Care Reform(US)
The current health care reform debate has degenerated into something bordering on hysteria. Attempts at genuine reform always do. It happened with Social Security in the 1930s and Medicare in the 1960s.
Americans who do not receive employer-based health insurance are often left with a Hobson’s choice: break the bank to purchase a policy or remain under-insured or uninsured. In all too many instances, individuals opt for no insurance over exorbitantly high-priced insurance premiums.Many persons make life and death decisions based on having no, or inadequate, health insurance.
Reform is both necessary and humane. Getting the reform right is the difficult part.
